WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL: LAKERS BATTLE THEIR WAY TO A WEEKEND SPLIT VERSUS TMU

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers women’s volleyball had a strong weekend and earned a split on the road.

After a tough loss in three sets Friday night, the Lakers bounced back for a big win in four sets Saturday against a tough TMU Bold team.

In the first meeting of the weekend, the Lakers battled, falling in three, but hanging in there with the Bold who had entered the weekend having won three of their last four matches.

TMU took the first set 30-28, then claimed the next two sets 25-20 to the victory.

Amy Connelly led the Lakers offence with 13 kills, while Paige Owen added 12 in the match.

The next day, Nipissing battled and earned the weekend split, winning in four and showing a lot of grit as they battle for a playoff spot.

Nipissing picked up wins of 25-19 and 26-24 to go up 2-0.

TMU stayed alive, winning the third set 25-21, but the Lakers secured the match with a 25-21 win in the fourth set.

Owen had a monster match today, earning 25 kills and Connelly and Oceane Raymond-Leduc each added 15 in the victory for the Lakers.

Nipissing is back home next weekend, hosting the Guelph Gryphons for a pair of matches.
