MEN’S VOLLEYBALL: LAKERS ADD STRONG NET PRESENCE AS THEY SIGN DOORNBOSCH

The Nipissing Lakers men’s volleyball team has secured some height and length, adding a 6-foot-7 middle to the roster.

The Lakers are excited and proud to announce the addition of Noah Doornbosch, who will join the program for the 2024-25 OUA season.

Making his way east from Calgary, AB, Doornbosch is looking forward to the next step in his volleyball career.

“I’m incredibly thrilled to embark on this journey with the Lakers for the 2024-2025 season. It’s a monumental moment for me and my family and I can’t wait to see what opportunities lie ahead,” he said.

Doornbosch will be studying in the business administration program at Nipissing after wrapping up his time with the YYC Eagles U18 club team.

Some notable accomplishments for Doornbosch include winning gold at nationals in U17 and clinching league and zone championship banners during his junior year of high school volleyball at Holy Trinity Academy.

And now he’s ready to tackle the next challenge ahead of him.

“Heading into my freshman year, my primary goal is to integrate seamlessly into the Lakers family. While I understand playing time may be limited initially, I’m committed to giving my all in practice and the weight room to continuously improve,” he explained.

He also added he feels his skillset will help the team.

“As a player, I personally bring a strong presence at the net blocking making it easier for our back row defense. I’m known for my blocking abilities and my capacity to open up the game with smart hits,” he said.

Lakers head coach Eric Yung is excited to add Doornbosch, knowing he’ll provide pieces needed for the program to succeed.

“We are excited to add Noah to our roster for the 2024-25 season. Noah brings some much-needed length to our roster and we believe he can excel at this level,” Yung said. “We are eager to have him on campus to see what he can bring to our program.”

The fit academically and athletically made Nipissing a great fit for Doornbosch.

“Nipissing stood out to me primarily due to its smaller class sizes and tight-knit community,” he stated.
