Marauders Sweep Badgers With Comfort in Home Opener

The Marauders came out strong and used home court to their advantage.

The McMaster Marauders men’s volleyball team swept the Brock Badgers today in their home opener.

A sea of fans filled the Burridge Gym to cheer on the men in maroon, providing a perfect atmosphere for the 3-0 win.

The Marauders came out strong and used home court to their advantage, crushing the Badgers 25-18 in the first set.

Sam Cooper was a powerhouse for McMaster, crushing every serve and hit.

Going into the second set with high energy, the Marauders looked to continue their winning momentum.

Brock took to badgering the throughout the next set as tensions rose, but they couldn’t shake the Marauders.

Offensive action from Max Gratton and Mateusz Wlodarski, as well as assisting from starting setter Robbie Fujisawa, helped McMaster keep the lead.

The Badgers kept the score closer than in the first set, but they were still no match for the Marauders who took the second set 25-20.

The third set began with a long rally that McMaster won, giving the Marauders an early lead.

They went on to dominate the rest of the game, keeping distance between them and Brock, including an 11-point lead at 23-12, the largest margin of the match.

Cooper took the final point in his hands and smashed a ball that Brock ultimately couldn’t get back, ending the game at 25-14.

The Marauders are set to welcome the Waterloo Warriors at home in their next game on Nov. 27 at 3pm.
