No. 6 Brock Women’s Volleyball Team On a 3-0 Run

Setter Sara Rohr led Brock to the straight sets win.

Sara Rohr compiled 34 assists as the No. 6 Brock women’s volleyball team blanked the McMaster Marauders 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-21) in Hamilton on Sunday, Nov. 21.

A third-year setter, Rohr posted a 34-plus assist game for the third consecutive match to help the Badgers remain undefeated. She also contributed eight digs.

“Our serve-receive chemistry is dominating right now and making it easier to run the offence,” said Rohr, a Teacher Education. “It’s giving us a huge advantage over our opponents. Along with our middle attacks doing well.”

On offence, second-year outside hitter Sadie Dick scored a game-high 11 kills, and senior middle Grace Pyatt put up 10 kills and four blocks.

The Badgers ended up with nine errors in the first set, and attacks began to go their way as they ratcheted up the kills.

Dick ran into several attack errors in the first set before lighting up the Marauders for seven kills in the second.

“I like to try and stay in the present and not think about what I just did and more of what I’m about to do,” Dick said. “If I score multiple in a row, I like to keep telling myself to keep crushing and the same for if I miss. I never want to hold back.”

Emily Foest filled the scoresheet with eight kills, 10 digs and an ace. Libero Aleiah Torres registered a game-high 13 digs, and Christina Jovetic led the Badgers with four aces.

Madison Chimienti tallied two aces and seven kills.

In three matches this season, Brock has dropped only one set, the second during their first encounter with McMaster on Nov. 19.

“I like our energy and ability to come back from anything,” added Rohr. “We have shown good grit and determination throughout our first few games, so we are looking to continue that over the rest of the season.”

Next, the Badgers (3-0) look to close out the first half of the regular season with a home match against the winless Guelph Gryphons (0-2) at Bob Davis Gymnasium on Friday, Nov. 26 at 6 p.m. before hitting the road for their final game of 2021 on Sunday, Nov. 28 at 1 p.m. Get your tickets here.
