Volleyball Canada’s Indoor Nationals Cancelled in 2021

May 03, 2021: Volleyball Canada is confirming the cancellation of its 2021 Indoor National Championship events.

“We were hoping to be able to run indoor events in 2021 but given the ongoing restrictions around travel and sport across the country, it is still not safe to do so,” said Sandra de Graaff, Volleyball Canada’s Director of Domestic Competitions. “Sport is so important, especially to the development of our younger athletes, and we understand this is not ideal, but we continue to plan for 2022 and beyond.”

Nationals, which typically runs each year in May, involves thousands of athletes and coaches (14U to adult), as well as officials and fans. The cancellation applies to both the youth and adult events.

VC’s provincial and territorial partners were consulted during the decision process and are adjusting their programs/schedules accordingly.

“We would again like to thank our partners, sponsors and most of all our potential participants and families for their patience and support during the pandemic. We are looking forward to creating events in the future that bring our community together in a safe, competitive and fun environment,” said de Graaff.

Stay tuned for more information about future plans later this summer, and please subscribe to our Nationals newsletter.  More info email: nationals@volleyball.ca

Beach Nationals, which is currently slated for August, is still being evaluated.
