UNDEFEATED MARAUDERS LOOK STRONG AGAINST GUELPH

The number two ranked Marauders remain undefeated as they take down the Gryphons in three sets in Guelph on Sunday. After coming off a big three set sweep win against Guelph at home on Friday, the Marauders proved their consistency on Sunday to improve to an 11-game winning streak.

The Marauders showed their consistency by sweeping the Gryphons comfortably in three sets. Outside hitters Sam Cooper and Max Gratton led the team in points, each racking up 12. Gratton had an impressive 11 kills, while Cooper made eight kills, along with six digs and two service aces. Robbie Fujisawa came in to support in a big way, making 27 out of the 29 assists all game.

McMaster took the early lead in the first set, but Guelph wasn’t willing to let them get far. After the Gryphons closed the gap for a moment, the Marauders stole away with the lead. Their power and verticals didn’t go unnoticed as Gratton made five kills and Cooper three. Once the score reached 17-11 for Mac, the men in Maroon put down six consecutive points, leading them to secure the set 25-12.

Going into the second set, the Marauders maintained composure to come in with an early lead. The play was quite back-and-forth, with Guelph looking to catch up. Mac displayed their teamwork and versatility through nine kills in the set from a variety of players and capitalized on attack errors by Guelph. Ultimately, the Marauders came out on top with a score of 25-19.

In the third set, Mac stayed consistent, comfortably leading for the entire set. Cooper and Gratton each made three kills with support from Fujisawa, who held eight assists. Despite both teams having many service errors, with eight from Mac and six from Guelph, the Marauders held onto their lead to close out the game with a 25-17 set score.

Looking ahead, the Marauders look to extend their win streak as they play the Windsor Lancers on Saturday, Mar. 5th at 2pm in the Burridge Gymnasium. The Marauders continue undefeated as playoff season approaches, moving their record to a staggering 11-0.
