Women’s Hockey – No. 6

After another impressive week the Guelph Gryphons women’s hockey team stays put as the No. 6-ranked team in the nation. In two games this past week the Gryphons outscored their opponents 8-1, picking up wins against the Laurier Golden Hawks and Brock Badgers to improve to 10-1-2 on the season. The back-to-back wins soldified an impressive November stretch for the Gryphons which saw the team go unbeaten in regulation and build an eight-point advantage over the rest of the OUA West Division. The Gryphons also possess the second-best record in the conference with only the No. 3-ranked Nipissing Lakers, who the Gryphons defeated 6-1 earlier in the campaign, ahead at 12-1-0. The team will now take on the York Lions and Ontario Tech Ridgebacks this weekend (Dec 1 & 2) before heading to the winter break.

Wrestling – No. 7 & 10

The Gryphons wrestling teams were off this past week after competing in the York Open last Sunday (Nov. 19), which saw impressive performances from several U of G rookies. The latest rankings saw the men’s team hold their position as the No.7-ranked team in the country while the women’s team swapped positions with the Carleton Ravens, moving to No. 10. The Gryphons now head into the Winter break with their next action coming in the new year on January 13 in St. Catharines at the Badgers Invitational.

Men’s Volleyball – No. 10

Following another convincing win against the York Lions Friday night (Nov. 24), the Gryphons earn a spot on the U SPORTS Top 10 list for the second consecutive week. With a record of 7-0 to begin the 2023-24 campaign the Gryphons now sit atop the OUA standings and are one of just two teams in the conference with a perfect record (Queen’s, 6-0). The U of G men’s volleyball program will now face the toughest test of the season as they get set to host the two-time defending OUA champion, No. 6-ranked McMaster Marauders in back-to-back games this weekend (Dec. 1 & 2) to close out the fall semester. The Marauders currently find themselves as the sixth team in the OUA standings with a 4-2 record having suffered losses to York and Windsor.
