LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western earned a 3-0 (27-25, 25-14, 25-16) win over Calgary in the Spartans second and final match of the West Coast Classic, as they wrapped up their preseason schedule Saturday at the Langley Events Centre.

The win sees TWU finish the preseason with three wins from their final four outings and a 3-5 overall preseason record.

TWU opens the Canada West regular season at home Oct. 20-21 when the Spartans host Fraser Valley at the Langley Events Centre. First serve on Friday is at 5 p.m., with Saturday’s match set to start at 4 p.m.

Ryan Hofer – TWU Head Coach
“Our offence is learning how to score points and what shots to make. As we get better at this, our efficiency is going up and we’re forcing our opponents to play the ball and we’re starting to get our block defence into place. We’re starting to get more touches on the block and we’re starting to get better in the backcourt and we’re making it harder for our opponents to score, which is what this game is all about. I’m really proud of our learning process. The team comes to the gym every day to work hard and get better. Preseason has been a really good learning opportunity and I’m really excited to start league next week.

“There are a lot of newer players on the floor. They’re experienced, but they’re just learning how to compete at a high level night after night. The biggest thing is we’re figuring out how this group is going to play together and what the identity of this group will be and we’re slowly finding that.”
