KINGSTON, Ont. (Nov. 20, 2023) – Shea Baker and Erik Siksna have been named the Queen’s University Varsity Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances with Queen’s Women’s Volleyball and Queen’s Men’s Volleyball this past weekend.
Baker (Vancouver, B.C.) helped Queen’s Women’s Volleyball split their weekend series with the Brock Badgers. In the team’s loss to Brock on Saturday, Baker finished with 12 assists.
In the Gaels, 3-2 (21-25, 25-20, 17-25, 25,18, 15-11) win over the Badgers on Sunday, Baker finished with a game-high 50 assists while also adding two assists.
Siksna (Markham, Ont.) helped Queen’s Men’s Volleyball remain undefeated on the season with a weekend sweep of the Brock Badgers at the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC).
In the Gaels’ 3-1 (16-25, 25-16, 25-20, 25-18) victory over the Badgers Saturday night, Siksna finished with a game-high 11 kills, six aces, four digs, three assists, and one block.
In Queen’s 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-21) win over Brock on Sunday afternoon, Siksna recorded a game-high 13 kills, three aces, and two blocks.
The Gaels improved their record to 6-0 with the wins over Brock. Queen’s is off next weekend before returning to the court in early December with a weekend series on the road against the Windsor Lancers.
