Queen’s Men’s Volleyball defeats Brock in 3 straight sets

KINGSTON, On (November 19, 2023) Queen’s wins the second game of a weekend doubleheader against Brock in 3 straight sets (25-21, 25-18, 25-21). 

Queen’s opened the first set aggressively, with aces from Zig Licis, Dax Thompkins and Erik Siksna within the first 10 points. This would set the tone for what would be an incredible match for the Gaels. As Queen’s continued to build their lead, the Badgers were forced into a timeout. The Gaels came out on top at 25-21, with an ace from Thompkins to close the set. Thompkins would register 4 aces. 

A rally ending in a kill by Siksna started the second set off strong. It was a back-and-forth battle. The Gaels restored their lead at the 10th point, but the score was tied again shortly after. The Gaels restored their lead once again, but this time it would only grow, and they took the set at 25-18.

Queen’s quickly took control of the third set, but the Badgers didn’t fall too far behind. It was a tight set, but Queen’s pulled ahead. An ace from Siksna closed the set, bringing the game to a victorious end. 

Siksna led the Gaels offensively with 13 kills. Reed Venning followed with 9 kills and Zig Licis registered 7. 

The men’s record improved to 6-0. The Gaels are back in action December 1 in Windsor to face the Lancers at 8:00PM.
