PACWEST Volleyball Championship

The 2023 volleyball PACWEST championship tournament is set to begin on Friday February 24th on the campus of the College of the Rockies for the first time since 2019.  Four teams will qualify for the tournament with the semi-finals set for Friday night.  Then Saturday the medal matches will take place with the winner punching their ticket to the National Championship.

Tournament passes for the weekend are available now which includes all eight matches.  You can purchase your tournament pass by contacting the Avalanche Athletic Department at 250-489-2751 ex 3252. Whether travelling from a distance or just wanting to ensure you can attend all the matches, the championship pass is a great option which can be purchased at anytime online.  Meanwhile the championship website is also the official home of the tournament and will feature match previews, summaries, featured interviews and links to the free web stream.

The winner of the women’s bracket will represent the PACWEST at the CCAA national finals.  They will not need to travel far, as the nationals will be hosted by the VIU Mariners beginning Wednesday March 8th. The Mariners just happen to be the four-time defending champions and have already punched their ticket as the hosts.  Due to their hosting duties, that means the PACWEST will have two representatives at the nationals.

On the men’s side they will travel to Ontario and play at Humber College in Toronto for the national championship. The Camosun Chargers are the defending champions and are looking to become the first repeat gold medalists since the 2016 and 2017 seasons when Red Deer won it back-to-back.

The PACWEST championship tournament runs on Friday February 24 and Saturday February 25. Matches from both men and women will begin each day at 1:00pm and be broadcasted HERE. (same link for women’s and men’s matches).

Spectators wanting to watch a match live, the tournament pass is available by calling the number above or admission can be purchased at the door either with credit, debit or cash.
