Hildebrand’s career night overshadowed by Huskies

BRANDON, Man. – The Saskatchewan Huskies fought off an early scare from the Bobcats Friday night to pick up a 3-1 (23-25, 25-16, 26-24, 25-13) win.
 
The Bobcats were in control of the first set, jumping to an early lead and taking the first frame.
 
Second year outside hitter Keely Anderson had seven kills, two aces and no errors in the first.
 
The Huskies answered back and took an early 12-7 lead in the second before the Bobcats battled back to tie it 13-13. After a brief back-and-forth the Huskies found a rhythm and ended the set on a 10-2 run.
 
The Bobcats fought off a set point in the third but it wasn’t enough and the Huskies carried the momentum into the fourth for the match win.
 
Anderson led all players with 19 kills on the night, to go with just four errors and 10 digs.
 
Brandon product Camryn Hildebrand impressed in her first start, as the third-year middle finished with a career-high 11 blocks, just two shy of tying the school record.
 
Laura Ramsey had a team-high 13 digs to go with five kills.
 
The Huskies were led by Abbey Klein’s team-high 15 kills while Mandi Fraser had 14 and Olivia Mattern finished with 13 kills.
 
Averie Allard had a match-high 48 assists in the win.
 
The Bobcat remain winless on the conference season at 0-19 while the Huskies improve to 8-11.
 
The two teams meet again Saturday to conclude the weekend series.
 
First serve is set for 5 p.m.
