Epic comeback win ends in dramatic style

WINNIPEG – The Bobcats dug deep for another impressive five-set win Saturday night at University of Winnipeg’s Duckworth Centre.

After an incredible start, to fighting off match point in the fourth, to winning a close fifth-set, the Bobcats move to 8-6 in conference play with the 3-2 (25-22, 14-25, 12-25, 26-24, 15-13) win over the Wesmen.

The match saw one of the most impressive beginnings to a Bobcat match in program history.

Just a week after Keely Anderson’s nine ace record setting performance, Danielle Dardis scored five aces in six points to give the Bobcats an early 8-3 lead.

The Bobcats would take the first set but have to battle back after dropping the second and third.

After fighting off match point in the fourth, Rayvn Wiebe stepped to the line and served an ace to end the set 26-24.

The Bobcats quickly took control in the fifth before Winnipeg answered back and tied it 13-13.

Wiebe then scored on a kill to set up match point before a block by Anderson and Camryn Hildebrand sealed it.

Dardis’ seven aces on the night are a career high, while Nicole Ashauer had a career-high 25 digs.

Wiebe had 13 kills on an astounding 62 swings to go with 14 digs, while Anderson also had a double-double with 12 kills and 15 digs.

Brianne Stott had a career-high 18 digs as well.

The Bobcats return home to conclude the regular season next weekend against the Regina Cougars.
