Both Cougars hockey teams, men’s volleyball earn U SPORTS Top 10 Ranking

Mount Royal’s men’s and women’s hockey teams, as well as the men’s volleyball team, remained ranked in the U SPORTS Top 10.

The men’s hockey team moved up to seventh overall in the nation after a win and a loss against the provincial rival Alberta Golden Bears. The Cougars earned 5-1 at home on Friday. However, Alberta avenged their loss to MRU on Saturday by a 6-3 margin. The 8-4-0 Cougars will face the MacEwan Griffins for a pair of games this weekend. MRU’s women’s hockey team held their third overall ranking in the country after winning both of their games against the Alberta Pandas this weekend. While on the road recorded a 3-2 overtime victory in Edmonton. Mount Royal returned to Flames Community Arenas on Saturday and defeated Alberta 2-1 in a shootout. Holding a 9-3-0 record, the Cougars will face off against the MacEwan Griffins next weekend. Read about the women’s hockey rankings on usports.ca.

Mount Royal’s men’s volleyball team earned the seventh overall ranking in U SPORTS this week, despite not playing any games.
