The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women’s volleyball team beat the Lakehead Thunderwolves in three sets on Saturday (Nov. 18) evening in Thunder Bay, Ont.
Set scores in the match were 25-20, 25-20, 25-22.
Outside hitter and Oakville, Ont. native Olivia Zhu led the Blues in the match scoring a game-high 18 points from 14 kills and four service aces. Fellow outside hitter, Giulia Chimilovski finished the match with seven points from seven kills.
Setting up the offence for the Blues this evening was fourth-year setter Robin Melnick. The Sydenham, Ont. native finished the match with a game-high 29 assists.
Blues libero Delaney Watson tallied a team-high 9 digs through the three sets.
The Thunderwolves were led by outside hitter Alysha Goundrey who finished with a team-high 10 points from nine kills and one service ace.
Next up, the Varsity Blues will return home to face-off against the Nipissing Lakers on Friday, November 24. First serve is scheduled for 8 p.m. Tickets for the contest are available at varsityblues.ca/tickets. The match will also be live streamed via oua.tv.
