The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women’s volleyball team defeated the TMU Bold 3-2 (26-24, 18-25, 25-20, 25-27, 15-6) in an exhibition match-up on Saturday, December 30 at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.
Second-year standout Oliva Zhu led all players with 20 points off of 16 kills and four aces, while also adding 16 digs on the day.
Three other Varsity Blues reached double-digit points in the win. Giulia Chimilovski had 16 points (13 kills, two blocks, one ace) and 13 digs, while Natalia Souza registered 13 points (10 kills, two blocks, one ace) and 26 digs. Anna Gadomski recorded 12.5 points (nine kills, two aces, 1.5 blocks), while Delaney Watson matched Souza’s game-high 26 digs.
Anna Arellano tallied 28 assists and five digs.
The Blues return to regular-season action this Thursday, January 4 as they travel to Guelph to take on the Gryphons. Opening serve is scheduled for 6 p.m., and the game can be streamed live on OUA.tv.
