SASKATOON, SK – The University of Saskatchewan Huskies came into their second match of the weekend on a high after a 3-0 victory over Brandon the night before. The Huskies would hold off the Bobcats in another straight set sweep to close the weekend undefeated.

Saskatchewan started Olivia Mattern (C), Keely Anderson, Rosetta Cyr, Mandi Fraser, Sophia Magus, Julia Howell Bourner and at libero Abby Hanson. Brandon started Ava Pearson, Megan Pickford, Avery Burgar, Laura Ramsey, Camryn Hildebrand, Carly Thomson and libero Abby Hanson.

The teams opened the match trading points back and forth until a big block by Olivia Mattern shifted momentum and sent Saskatchewan’s Julia Howell Bourner on a five serve run. The Huskies pulled up by seven (19-12) and carried that lead through until closing the set 25-18.

Saskatchewan held the lead for the entire second set after a receiving their first two points off a set of Brandon attack errors. Brandon’s attack percentage on the set (-0.034) was highly outweighed by Saskatchewan’s 0.276.

Huskie captain Olivia Mattern opened the scoring in the third with a big kill to snag the lead. Saskatchewan did not let up through the rest of the set winning the third 25-14.
