SASKATOON, SK – The Huskies home opener featured the visiting Brandon Bobcats late Friday evening on Ron & Jane Graham Centre Court at the Physical Activity Complex. Saskatchewan swept the match in three straight sets and opened their season with a dominant victory.

Head coach Mark Dodds noted that “The team played well in spite of some minor mistakes. There are some things we will need to clean up before tomorrow, but we are looking forward to another great challenge from the Bobcats.”

Saskatchewan slid in front 16-8 early in the first set to open the contest, pushing Brandon to call a timeout. The Dogs did not let up and a series of back-and-forth service errors closed the first set 25-15 in favour of the Huskies.

Brandon opened the scoring in the second with an early 6-1 lead over the Huskies. The Dogs clawed their way back to a 12-17 deficit when Saskatchewan’s Keely Anderson turned the tide for the home team. The former Bobcat and Brandon’s 2022-23 women’s volleyball MVP, bought the Huskies back into the lead with a stunning 12 serve run, leading her team to a 25-18 win of the second set.

The Huskies started from behind in the third set but turned on the jets and sailed in front of the Bobcats 10-4 to open the final frame. After trading errors, both teams went on the attack but Saskatchewan was poised and focused, winning the third set 25-15.
