The PACWEST is pleased to announce the Week 4 volleyball Athletes of the Week following an exciting weekend.

Female Volleyball Athlete of the Week
Janae Bruinsma – CBC Bearcats

The fifth-year vet had a massive weekend for the Bearcats. First off on Friday, she had 23 digs, attacked at 47% and had 13 points, including 11 kills, had an ace and a block, in their five-set win at the College of the Rockies. Then on Saturday, she followed up with 23 points, including 20 kills and three aces, with 17 digs, all while attacking at 33% in another five-set thriller. In the fifth and deciding set she was the focal point of the offence compiling six kills on seven attempts. She also led the team with her serve receive passing all weekend long. In total, Bruinsma scored 36 points, attacked at 38%, had 40 digs and led the Bearcats to a pair of huge road wins in Cranbrook.

Male Volleyball Athlete of the Week
Owen Dyck – VIU Mariners

Third-year setter Owen Dyck made the most of Week 4 action against Island rivals Camosun College Chargers.  He led the Mariners offensive attack with excellent balance as he distributed the ball all over the court and gave the Mariners offence many excellent opportunities to score. He had an outstanding 72 setting assists over two five-set victories. He also contributed with 10 offensive points with seven kills, had an ace, two blocks, and added 11 digs.
