Tyra Peters named MCAC women’s volleyball player of the year

Dominant. In every way.
From team success to individual performances, Tyra Peters made a massive impact on the MCAC women’s volleyball season.
The Providence University College Pilots left side has been named player of the year.
“Tyra has had the best season on record at Providence. Offensively, she set program marks for kills, kills per set, aces per set and points per set,” said Pilots head coach Kyle Guenther.
“It’s been incredible to see her success to this point. But more than these stats, she is one of our most consistent passers and has really improved her blocking skills this year. Tyra does it all and at a very high level.”
Peters had a conference-leading 219 kills and 3.71 kills per set, hitting .279, which was second only to her teammate Serena Algera, who was named to the all-conference team.
She also led the league with 2.68 digs per set and .73 aces per set, pushing PUC to a perfect 18-0.
“Her presence on the court makes everyone around her more confident,” Guenther said.
“Tyra gives everything she has night in and night out and does so with passion and joy. She is a gifted student-athlete that we are so fortunate to have on our side.”
The Pilots play the Université de Saint-Boniface Les Rouges in the semifinals on Saturday at noon.
The Canadian Mennonite University Blazers and Assiniboine Community College Cougars meet in the other semifinal at 2 p.m.
The final is on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Serena Algera – Providence
Kadence Bolen – Providence
