Royals Sweep Avalanche

The Douglas Royals played an outstanding match to take down the COTR Avalanche in three-straight sets to punch their ticket to the gold medal match.

The energy in the gym was electric which helped the Royals gain momentum after winning the first set 25-17.  They used several players to disrupt the Avalanche rhythm with Elijah Kim running the offence.  PACWEST Player of the Year Owen Lam led the way hitting from everywhere on the floor collecting 11 kills and was named the Player of the Match.  Tyson Koop was a major factor with seven kills and Lucas Sansone was an impact out of the middle with six kills and added two aces.

After that first set the Royals rode their momentum and the great crowd to set victories of 25-19 and 25-22.

It’s heartbreak for the Avalanche who were without an injured Dylan Annala, a major part of their offensive punch.  Diego Policarpo was the main source of offence with 11 kills after a slow start and was named Player of the Match.

The Royals face the VIU Mariners in the gold medal match while the Avalanche will meet the Camosun Chargers for bronze.
