Bold fall short of Badgers, look to bounce back in Saturday’s rematch

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – The TMU men’s volleyball team was looking to break out of their losing streak to open the season, but fell in straight sets to the Brock Badgers on Friday night.

Brock entered the game with three wins while the Bold were still hoping for their first win of the season.

Early on the score was close and both teams held the score only one point apart, but the Badgers quickly took the lead and outdid the Bold in the first set 25-22.

The Badgers came in strong making the Bold work for every point. Coming off a tough game against the Windsor Lancers, the Bold hoped to rebound this weekend.

In the second set, the Bold kept the same strategy, keeping the score tight and making it hard for the Badgers to take a significant lead.

Alex King continued to hold the most kills of the game with a total of 15 and TMU relied on his kills to excel in each set.

Day Westell recorded the highest hit percentage on the team which was .667%.

In the third, the Bold had one goal which was to keep the game going. Both teams went back and forth in points, making the set winner almost unpredictable. The final score was a reflection of how tight the third set was.

The Bold hoped to work off of the momentum they had but the Badgers came out on top.

The Badgers overtook the Bold with a score of 27-25, and the Bold are looking forward to redeeming a win on Saturday at 6 p.m.
