Bold bolster 2024 recruiting class with signing of Julia Breen

TORONTO – TMU women’s volleyball continued to bolster its 2024 signing class by announcing the commitment of middle Julia Breen out of St. Michael’s High School in Niagara Falls.

After being named rookie of the year in 2022, Breen was named a captain her senior year of high school. Breen was MVP of her high school in 2023 as well as an honour roll student throughout her time at St. Michael’s.

A natural leader, Breen is excited to bring her leadership abilities to the Bold next season as they look to build off their strong 2023-24 season.

“I truly love the sport and have and will always push myself to play to the best of my ability. I hold myself and the people around me to a high standard but am always there to support them through ups and downs,” said Breen.

She is a great leader, athlete, and student and we are excited to see her grow and contribute to our team and culture in all of those areas,” added assistant coach Brett Hagarty. “She is an athletic explosive middle, and we can’t wait to see what she accomplishes on and off the court in her time here.”

When she gets on campus, Breen will join TMU’s Biomedical Sciences program, and is excited to play for the blue and gold in downtown Toronto.

“I loved the feel of the smaller athletic department that still provides many great resources while creating a much tighter community. Being in the heart of the city will be a fun new experience!”
