MEN’S VOLLEYBALL: LAKERS PICK UP SECOND STRAIGHT CONVINCING VICTORY

Box Score Closing out Nipissing Homecoming, the Nipissing Lakers men’s volleyball team was hoping to make a statement.

Coming off a big 3-0 win Friday night, the Lakers hosted the RMC Paladins in the second of a two game set.

Nipissing took care of business, winning once again, in three straight to pick up the win and weekend sweep.

The Lakers took care of business in the first set, pulling away from the Paladins late to pick up the win.

While the score was even early, the Lakers built up a 19-12 lead before cruising to a 25-14 win to go up 1-0.

In the second, the Lakers grabbed an early 9-4 lead and pushed that advantage to 17-9 midway through the set.

They cruised to the lopsided win, taking the set 25-12.

The third was similar – Nipissing led 9-6 and 17-12 midway through.

And like the first two sets, they made no mistake sealing the win.

They finished things off with a 25-17 win to sweep the match.

Jackson Young led the Lakers offensively with eight kills, while Tyrus Cuculick, Marc Marchand and Jackson Germann all chipped in with five kills in the win.

The Lakers hit the road to close out the semester, heading to Hamilton to face McMaster next weekend before wrapping things up in Waterloo for a pair of matches in early December.
