WolfPack add Albertan standout Bailey

KAMLOOPS – Another big-time recruit has committed to the ‘Pack as the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men’s volleyball team and head coach Pat Hennelly are thrilled to announce that Parker Bailey will join the squad.

Adding to an already highly-talented 2024-25 recruiting class, the widely-acclaimed Bailey is poised to make an impact for the ‘Pack for years to come.

“I believe Parker will have an immediate impact for our program and his signing already makes this recruiting class one of the top ones in program history,” said WolfPack head coach Pat Hennelly. “We are very pleased and excited to add Parker to our program and look forward to seeing him on campus next September.”

A product of Sherwood Park, AB Bailey is an explosive outside hitter that becomes the latest Albertan to join the ‘Pack.

The WolfPack first got on Bailey’s radar at the Canadian University Volleyball Showcase when he attended a session coached by Hennelly. From there the two kept in touch and Bailey was quick to commit to the ‘Pack after a visit to Kamloops.

“The campus looks awesome and I felt very welcome during my visit thanks to coach Pat, the team and administrators,” said Bailey. “I am looking forward to the opportunity to grow as a player/person, with coach Pat’s guidance and to be a part of an impressive university and team.”

With numerous accolades to his name, Bailey plays high school volleyball for Salisbury Composite, club volleyball with NOOKS U18 and also competes at the provincial level for Team Alberta.

“Parker is always positive, polite, and courteous in his interaction with others and consistently demonstrated a serious approach to his athletics and academics,” said Salisbury head coach Mark Van Drunen. “As an athlete, Parker showed much growth in the last three years. The time Parker put into refining his skills and willingness to learn shows in his current abilities on the court. Parker has turned into an exceptional volleyball player and is one of my finest athletes to ever come through the halls at Salisbury during my tenure.”

A 2021 & 2022 Edmonton Metro High School Champion with Salisbury, Bailey was also named a Provincial All-Star in 2022.

“I have been very fortunate to have had great coaches, role models and teammates during my volleyball journey and am very excited to be joining the WolfPack and moving to Kamloops next year,” said the 6-6 outside hitter. “As a player I am a hard-working competitor and very keen on learning on how to continue to improve my game. I feel as a teammate, I can help bring energy to the guys and my goal is to help TRU win a championship.”

At the club level Bailey has captured the 2023 Best of the West Championship with NOOKS U17 as well as the 2023 Alberta Provincial Championship and the 2023 Volleyball Canada National Championship Bronze Medal.

“On the court Parker has had an impressive resume, he helped lead his Nooks Volleyball Club to a bronze medal at Nationals and in my opinion was a top player at the tournament and in the country,” said Hennelly. “Parker also started for Team Alberta this past summer, helping them to a silver medal at the Canada Cup. Coming out of Nationals, Parker was at the top of our recruiting list.”

Planning on taking general studies at TRU, Bailey continues a long line of players from Alberta to play for the ‘Pack and joins current members from Wild Rose Country: Dylan VanSpankeren, Matthew Hamilton, Trey Soondarsingh, Sam Elgert, Corbin Ockerman and Brendon Lord.

“I was immediately impressed with his skill and potential as well as his excellent attitude,” said Hennelly. “Parker and his dad Craig impressed us again with his abilities and attitude and we felt that Parker would be great fit for our team in terms of culture.”
