Trio of Dinos to spend time with Volleyball Canada

CALGARY – It will be a busy summer for three members of the University of Calgary Dinos women’s volleyball team.

Returning second-year middle Sheridan Coninx and incoming rookie Evvia Belireau have been invited by Volleyball Canada’s U21 squad to a training camp in Edmonton, running from May 25 – June 4.

And elite group of 22 individuals were invited to Edmonton, where 12 will be selected to compete at the Pan Am Cup in La Paz, Mexico from June 5 – June 13.

Coninx played in all 18 regular season games, as well as all seven postseason contests in the Dinos playoff run. The six-foot middle from Calgary finished the regular season with 49 total blocks – good for eighth in all of Canada West as a rookie. She also tallied 59 kills and 18 service aces in her first season on campus.

Belireau is a 5-foot-6 libero from Canmore. The highly sought after recruit spent three years playing club with the Junior Dinos before signing with the Scarlett and Gold last fall.

Meanwhile, Dinos head coach Christine Biggs also will have a busy summer, as she is scheduled to coach Team Canada’s U-19 squad in Calgary this July. She will also be taking that team to the 2022 NORCECA (North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation) U19 Girls Pan-American Cup, hosted this year in Tulsa, Oklahoma from July 18 – July 23.
