Tigers took all 3 sets against l’Aigles Bleues (25-23, 25-19, 25-18) at the CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud in Moncton. The Tigers were able to find the gaps in l’Aigles Bleues’ defence, achieving 32 kills to the Bleues’ 29. The Tigers also made fewer mistakes than l’Aigles Bleues, limiting their serve errors and attack errors to 20 and 8 respectively.
The sets were tight, with long rallies and exciting action. Lucy Glen-Carter (Toronto, ON) led the Tigers attack, finishing the game with 13 kills. On the other side of the net, Aigles Bleues middle Abigail Pallister (Moncton, NB) finished with 8 kills. While the Tigers maintained a slight lead throughout all the sets, Aigles Bleues’ ability to recover kept them in the fight. The first set was the closest, final score being 25-23.
The second set started with a strong block from Tigers middle Grace Calnan (Dartmouth, NS) with an assist from outside Annik Boldon (Fredericton, NB). The Tigers’ defending shone in the second set, returning all types of attacks from l’Aigles Bleues. The score was 25-19.
The third set had the toughest battles, one instance saw Pallister block back-to-back hits from Glen-Carter. The Tigers libero kept the rallies alive, finishing the game with 28 digs. The final score of the third set was 25-18.
Glen-Carter was named the Subway Player of the Game in the win.
L’Aigles Bleues play UNB at home on Feb. 17th. The Tigers visit Wolfville in a match against Acadia for their next game on Wednesday 15th, both games starting at 7 p.m.
