Spratt hits milestone mark but MRU completes sweep of WolfPack

KAMLOOPS – The No. 4 ranked MRU Cougars ran away in a straight-sets victory over the visiting Thompson Rivers WolfPack women’s volleyball team by a score of 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-12) Saturday night.

Fifth-year setter Abby Spratt further cemented her name in the program record books in the game. Already the WolfPack leader in career assists, Spratt moved past the 2500 mark in the game, becoming one of just 18 players in the history of Canada West to do so.

Erin Mutch had a team-high six kills for TRU with Brooklyn Olfert adding five.

Maddison Marshal (9), Ella Lawrence (6) and Mya Morgan (6) were the kill leaders for the Cougars who further cemented their status as one of the top teams in the country with the victory.

The result moves TRU to 7-9 on the season. Now sitting in ninth-place in conference, TRU is one game back of the UBC Okanagan Heat for the eighth and final playoff spot. With eight games left to play in their regular season, the ‘Pack will look to finish strong and make it back into the postseason for the fifth time in the past seven seasons.

Next up for TRU is an important weekend against the Fraser Valley Cascades (10-5). Those games will be played inside the TCC and will take place at 7:15 p.m. on Friday and 4:45 on Saturday.
