Spartans Win Blue Team Cup, Completing Undefeated Preseason

LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western defeated Mount Royal 3-0 at the Langley Events Centre to win the 2021 Blue Team Cup on Saturday.

This victory also completes a perfect 9-0 preseason for the Spartans.

“It’s an exhibition tournament but this is the first trophy we’ve been able to play for in years.

“The guys played good tonight. Mount Royal is a great team, they had us dead to rights at the FOG Classic. We found a way to steal that one, but today the guys didn’t want to leave anything to chance. Our serving was dialled in from the very start. They were under massive pressure in the first set and our passers held up.

“Henry Rempel (Swift Current, Sask.) was an absolute monster, I’m pretty sure he had seven kills from the back row. If we can get that kind of production from the back-row, adding onto the things Jesse Elser (Calgary) and Jackson Howe (Calgary) can do in the middle, our team gets really scary Henry balanced the court really well.

“We exit the exhibition phase 9-0. We got a lot better as we head into our conference opener next weekend. We’re really excited to get back to the games that really count”
