REYNOLDS, HERRINGTON EARN 2023-24 OUA AWARDS

The York University Lions women’s volleyball team has earned two OUA awards, it was announced by the conference on Monday.

Jessica Reynolds, a fourth year Kinesiology & Health Science major, was an excellent outside hitter for the Lions this season. For her efforts, she earned a selection to the OUA second-team all-stars. Playing in all 20 matches this season, she led the OUA in sets played (79), finishing second in digs (274), and third in digs per set (3.47). She had a seasons high 24 digs on Jan. 27 against Trent in the Lions 3-1 win, and then again on Feb. 3 against RMC in York’s 3-1 victory. 

Joining Reynolds in the all-star selection, first-year Victoria Herrington earned a selection to the OUA all-rookie team in a stellar first season with the Lions. 

Herrington, a Criminology major out of Port Perry, On., was a reliable outside-hitter for the team all season, leaving her mark on the court in her first year. In her 18 matches played and 61 sets, she tallied 119 kills for 1.95 kills per set on 449 total attacks. Defensively, she recorded 241 receptions and 100 digs for 1.64 digs per set. She was third on the Lions with 147.5 points, averaging 2.4 points per set. She recorded a seasons high 17.5 points, 15 kills and 12 digs on Feb. 10 against the Windsor Lancers.
