Queen’s Men’s Volleyball beat No. 9 Nipissing in straight sets

KINGSTON, Ont. (Feb. 19, 2022) – Queen’s Men’s Volleyball returned to the win column with a straight sets win (25-14, 25-20, 25-20) over the Nipissing Lakers (No. 9) Saturday at the ARC.

The Gaels (No. 6) bounced back from their lone loss of the season last weekend to the Toronto Varsity Blues, and improved their record to 6-1. Queen’s is tied atop the OUA East with Nipissing, whose record fell to 6-1 with the loss, and Toronto.

Erik Siknsa (Markham, Ont.) and Lachlan McBride (Vancouver, B.C.) led the way with 13 and 12 kills respectively. Siksna also tied for the game-high in blocks with four, alongside Cole Duncanson (St. Catherines).

Liam Wilson (Toronto, Ont.) finished with 41 assists for the Gaels in the win while Lukas Kaufman (Stratford, Ont.) had a game-high nine digs.

Queen’s will return to the court next weekend with a home-and-home series against the RMC Paladins (4-3). The Gaels host RMC Friday at 8 p.m. at the ARC before travelling crosstown to take on the Paladins Sunday at 4 p.m. Queen’s defeated RMC 25-21, 25-15, 25-23 in their only prior meeting this season.
