PREVIEW: WolfPack start second semester hosting Cougars

Game Information

Date: Friday, January 6 & Saturday, January 7
Time: 5:30 p.m. & 3:00 p.m.
Location: TCC Gym

3 Things

1: It will be a rare two-game weekend inside the TCC, with just the WolfPack women in action at home while the men are on a bye.

2: For the first time in WolfPack history there will be a beer garden and hot food being served inside the TCC all year long. Kid’s Club presented by McDonald’s is also back, featuring muffins, yogurt and colouring sheets.

3:  The WolfPack have already eclipsed their win total from 2021-22 and are right in the mix for a Canada West postseason berth with six weekends of action left in the season.

Weekend Story

KAMLOOPS – Back in action for the first time in over a month, the Thompson Rivers WolfPack women’s volleyball team will kick off 2023 at home inside the TCC.

Playing host to the Regina Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, TRU will be looking to come out of the gates hot and make an early statement in their fight for a playoff spot.

In their last action before the break TRU lost a pair of close games to the Calgary Dinos. The WolfPack pushed Calgary to the limit on Saturday in a 3-2 loss in which Abby Spratt racked up 41 assists, her second highest single-game mark this season.

Sitting with a mark of 5-7, TRU finds themselves tied for tenth in the conference but are just two games behind sixth-place. With just eight teams making the postseason the race promises to be a tight one throughout the second half of the season.

Regina (0-12) will be looking for their first win of the season. The Cougars have come close on multiple occasions including a narrow 3-2 loss against their provincial rivals the Saskatchewan Huskies back on November 18.

By The Numbers

24: Abby Spratt sits second in the conference with 24 service aces so far this year.

4.25: Ema Palkovicova has the fourth-best numbers in the conference with 4.25 points-per-set.

6-4: TRU has won six of the last ten meetings between the teams.
