KAMLOOPS – Playing in the TRU Gym for the only time this season, the Thompson Rivers WolfPack women’s volleyball team will play the final games of their 2021-22 season this weekend.

The games will be a part of Forward Law Weekend as the WolfPack recognize the contributions of Forward Law to the ‘Pack.

The 1-13 WolfPack will play host to the 8-6 UBC Thunderbirds at 6:45 p.m. on Friday and 3:45 p.m. on Saturday. TRU will be looking to end their season on a high note. While the Canada West postseason may be out of reach for the ‘Pack, they will have the chance to pick up their first home victory of the season. The Thunderbirds meanwhile are locked in a battle with the UBC Okanagan Heat for second place in the West Division.

TRU enters the weekend fresh after a bye last week. In their last action a shorthanded WolfPack team that has been dealing with injuries all season long lost a pair of games to the No. 1 ranked TWU Spartans. Kate Lamothe was named the WolfPack Athlete of the Week after the first year athlete proved her versatility by playing multiple positions for the ‘Pack. UBC split the weekend with the Heat in their last action. The Thunderbirds took a 3-1 victory on Friday night before falling a 3-2 battle on Saturday.

The two teams played twice earlier this season in Vancouver where the Thunderbirds picked up wins of 3-1 and 3-0 over the WolfPack.

 Things

1: Fans 12-and-over attending the games will be required to show proof of full vaccination. Per provincial guidelines attendance will be limited to 50 per cent capacity.

2:  For Alumni Weekend, all TRU alumni and their families can get into the matches for free by registering with the TRU Alumni App.

3: The WolfPack will honour graduating players Katie Ludvig and Anastasiia Muzyka on Saturday.
