No. 3 Brock women’s volleyball team storms back to beat Waterloo

Senior middle Grace Pyatt and first-year outside hitter Emily Foest enjoyed career nights to help the No. 3 Brock women’s volleyball team remain undefeated in Ontario University Athletics (OUA).

Pyatt recorded 19 kills, and Foest added 16 to power the Badgers to their 10th consecutive victory. Brock defeated the Waterloo Warriors on the road 3-1 (22-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-20) to string together its longest win streak in recent memory.

After losing the first set, the Badgers stormed back to win the second with a .407 hitting percentage. Brock found themselves trailing by four before rattling off nine consecutive points to take the lead and never looking back in the third.

“It was a good test for our team to battle back after going down in the first set,” said head coach Steve Delaney. “The way we won this game was good for our team.”

Pyatt linked up with setter Sara Rohr, who registered 51 assists to manufacture the Badgers’ resurgence.

Rohr is second in the country and first in the province, with 10.44 assists per set.

“Grace was awesome, and Sara ran a great offence,” added Delaney. “Sadie Dick delivered some key kills, and Aleiah Torres made several crucial digs. Sam Casey came into the second consecutive match to lay down some serving pressure and fantastic defence.”

Torres finished with 15 digs while Dick scored 10 kills, and Christina Jovetic led the team with five blocks.

Next, the Badgers (10-0) host back-to-back home games with the winless Lakehead Thunderwolves (0-5) beginning on Friday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. Brock will host its Seniors Night on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m.
