The York University Lions women’s volleyball team has won nine consecutive sets, earning three straight 3-0 wins to close out the fall term.
Now, rested and recuperated following the holiday break, the Lions are back and getting set to host a pair of crucial matches against the Queen’s Gaels. The Lions are a point behind the Gaels in the OUA standings, and in a three-way tie for sixth in the conference, currently seeded in the eighth and final playoff spot via tiebreakers. Queen’s comes in losers of two in a row following a 5-1 start to the season.
These are huge games for a Lions team that has, at times, had difficulty putting wins together. As mentioned, they got hot right ahead of the holiday hiatus – and now are hoping the five weeks off don’t spoil the streak.
