EDMONTON – With the Pandas 3-1 win over the Mount Royal Cougars on Friday night, head coach Laurie Eisler earned win No. 417, becoming the winningest Canada West coach in University of Alberta history.
Eisler now holds a 417-154 conference record, with her win on Friday night eclipsing the mark of 416 set by former Golden Bears volleyball coach Terry Danyluk, who retired from coaching in 2019.
She became the first coach in school history to surpass 800 overall wins back in 2019, with Friday night’s win the 832nd of her career. Eisler set the University of Alberta record for most wins on February 24th, 2017, when she surpassed Clare Drake’s mark of 720.
In her 30 seasons at the University of Alberta, Eisler has won six national championships, 11 Canada West titles, and 16 national medals. She has been named the conference coach of the year seven times, and the national coach of the year three times.
Manitoba Bison coach Ken Bentley is the only women’s volleyball coach with more wins than Eisler, having earned over 1,000 total wins in 35 seasons with the Bisons.
The 3-0 Pandas will conclude their weekend series with the Cougars tomorrow night in Calgary, with their first home series scheduled for November 26 & 27 vs the Calgary Dinos.
