Heartbreak in the Hammer; Warriors Drop Epic 5-setter to Marauders

The fifth set went into extra points with McMaster coming out on top 20-18.

The Warriors and Marauders had a 5-set battle for the ages on Saturday night and unfortunately for the Warriors there had to be a loser in this match as they came up just short in the fifth set by a score of 18-20.

After McMaster jumped out to a 2-0 lead the Warriors clawed their way back into the match winning the third set 25-22 and fourth 25-20. In the fifth the Warriors had several match points but McMaster continued to fight until they served out the match with an ace.

It was a busy match for Sarah Glynn (Fredricton, NB/) who had 64 total attacking attempts, putting away 17 of them while also adding one ace and 11 digs. Karen Fan (Oakville, ON/) was also busy from the rightside with 12 kills. Serena Otshudi (Hamilton, ON/) and Abbey Neufeld (Battleford, SK/) rounded out Waterloo’s attack with seven and five kills respectively while Otshudi added three blocks. Katrine Eistrat (Toronto, ON/) finished that match with 27 assists while Alex Sinik (Calgary, AB/) chipped in with eight.

The Warriors now head into the holiday break with a 2-3 record and will be back in action on Friday, January 14 in St. Catharines against the Brock Badgers before returning home to the PAC on Saturday, January 15 to play the Badgers once again.
