KINGSTON, Ont. (Dec. 4, 2023) – Hannah Duchesneau and Fofo Adetogun have been named the Queen’s University Varsity Sports Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances with Queen’s Women’s Volleyball and Queen’s Men’s Basketball respectively this past weekend.
Duchesneau (Sharon, Ont.) helped the Gaels sweep the Windsor Lancers this past weekend, with a straight-sets win on Friday followed by a five-sets win on Saturday.
In Friday’s win, Duchesneau had a game-high 14 kills on 26 attempts and a 50 per cent attack efficiency, and on Saturday Duchesneau had 21 kills on 43 attempts and a 42 per cent attack efficiency.
With the two wins on the weekend, Queen’s closed out the first half of their regular season with a 7-1 record.
Adetogun (Regina, Sask.) helped the Gaels win both weekend games as the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC) this weekend, defeating the Guelph Gryphons 88-87 on Friday and Algoma Thunderbirds 100-67 on Saturday.
Adetogun led Queen’s in scoring with 23 points in Friday’s win, including a buzzer-beating three-pointer which led to the Gaels’ one-point win. Adetogun followed up Friday’s big performance with 13 points against the Thunderbirds on Saturday.
With the two wins over the weekend, the Gaels finished the first half of their regular season with a 7-2 record.
