Gaels top Nipissing in straight sets to open weekend doubleheader

Queen’s Men’s Volleyball opened their weekend doubleheader against the Nipissing Lakers with a 3-0 (29-27, 25-20, 25-17) in North Bay, Ont.

After going to extra points in the first set, the Gaels took the second and third sets comfortably in the straight sets win.

Erik Siksna (Markham, Ont.) led Queen’s offensively with a game-high 11 kills while also adding three blocks and five digs in the win.

Chris Zimmerman (Prince George, B.C.) led all players with 25 assists while Lhexen Rabit (Hamilton, Ont.) recorded a game-high seven digs.

With the victory, the Gaels improved their record to 11-4 and currently sit fourth in the OUA standings. Queen’s will close out their doubleheader with the Lakers Saturday night.
