Former Queen’s Women’s Volleyball coach Lisa Eyles honoured at OVA Awards for Hall of Fame induction

KINGSTON, Ont. (June 9, 2023) – Former Queen’s Women’s Volleyball coach and long-time Athletics & Recreation staff member Lisa Eyles was honoured by the Ontario Volleyball Association for her Hall of Fame induction last week.

Eyles was honoured for her induction into the Hall of Fame, Class of 2022, in the Coaches category as part of the OVAtion Awards Banquet on Saturday.

“Our entire Queen’s Women’s Volleyball team would like to congratulate Lisa for being honoured by the Hall of Fame Induction!” said Queen’s Women’s Volleyball Head Coach Ryan Ratushniak. “Through her dedication to the sport of volleyball, Eyles has helped so many people in becoming better versions of themselves as athletes and people. We are very grateful to have her working with our team!”

Eyles spent more than 30 years as a coach at the club, provincial, and university levels, including nine years as head coach of the Queen’s Women’s Volleyball program (1993-2002). Eyles, who also spent 25 years as Coordinator of Camps and Community Outreach with Queen’s Athletics & Recreation, would later return to the program as assistant coach as well.

As a club coach in the Kingston area, Eyles led teams to provincial consolation finals, and provincial silver and bronze medals. Eyles was also the Head Coach of the Canadian Ontario Women’s Program from 1997-2001, winning gold at the 1999 National Team Challenge Cup and silver at the Canada Games in 2021.

Eyles had previously been recognized by the Ontario Volleyball Association on several occasions, being named the OVA Female Coach of the Year in 1999, the OVA Recognition Award in 2000, the 3M Coach of the Year Award in 2001, and the Achievement Award in 2017.
