Captain Canada Perrin becomes first member of the ‘Pack to enter CW Hall of Fame

CALGARY – Gord Perrin is the newest member of the Canada West Hall of Fame. The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack athlete spent three years in the orange, black and white before donning the “C” with Team Canada.

The Creston, BC product began his Canada West career with a bang, earning the conference’s Rookie of the Year award. Perrin was twice named a CW all-star in his three-year career. He also has the distinction of being TRU’s first-ever CIS First Team All-Canadian.

Perrin’s skills could be seen early on the national stage. He played with Canada’s junior team while completing his studies. He went on to captain the senior national team and represent his country at the 2016 Olympic Games, where the team punched above its weight class to finish fifth. He announced his retirement from the national team after leading it to the quarter-finals at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

Perrin has played professional volleyball in Russia, Turkey, Italy, China and Iran.

“I always had aspirations to play professional volleyball and to one day represent Canada in the Olympics. These goals were always in my mind when I was competing in Canada West. I am very grateful for the university system which allowed me to develop into the player I am today. I have many fond memories of competing in the Canada West and have bonds with friends that will last a lifetime,” Perrin said.

“Gord has meant a lot to the WolfPack men’s volleyball program. He had an immediate impact on our team’s performance, helping us get to three straight national championships, with two Canada West bronze medals and one CIS bronze medal. Gord has put the WolfPack name on the international and national volleyball scene. He has led Canada to an unprecedented two consecutive Olympics as team captain. Travelling from Creston B.C. to Kamloops B.C. and then onto the world stage, it is extremely fitting that Gord Perrin has become the Thompson Rivers WolfPack’s first member inducted into the Canada West Hall of Fame,” said Hennelly.
