Weekend Story
KAMLOOPS – For the first time since a devastating car crash tragically took the life of Owyn McInnis and resulted in life-altering injuries to Owen Waterhouse and Riley Brinnen, the Thompson Rivers WolfPack will play on their home court this weekend.
The WolfPack (5-7) will host the MacEwan Griffins (0-14) at 7:15 p.m. on Friday and 4:45 p.m. on Saturday. The games will be emotional ones for an extremely resilient WolfPack team that helped honour McInnis at a celebration of life on Wednesday.
TRU put together an amazing effort in their return to play last weekend. The ‘Pack split a weekend with the Winnipeg Wesmen, capturing a 3-1 victory Friday before falling 3-1 on Saturday. Matthew Hamilton was named the WolfPack, Canada West and U SPORTS Athlete of the Week for his impressive performance on Friday that saw him rack up career-highs in kills, digs and blocks before ending the game with two-straight service aces.
The Griffins were swept by the Manitoba Bisons in their last outing, falling 3-1 and 3-0 in Edmonton.
MacEwan won both games that these teams played last season in Edmonton.
