WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL: SHORTHANDED LAKERS DROP A PAIR TO MCMASTER

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Nipissing Lakers women’s volleyball team entered the weekend shorthanded and had to face one of the stronger programs in the OUA.

The Lakers came up short in a pair of matches, falling 3-0 both Friday and Saturday in Hamilton.

Friday night, the Lakers fell 25-15, 25-11 and 25-17.

Oceane Raymond led the way with 13 kills, while Amy Connelly added eight kills and 10.5 points in the opening match of the weekend.

With more injuries adding up, the Lakers fought hard the second day, but fell short again.

McMaster came away with wins of 25-21, 25-19 and 25-20 to sweep the weekend from Nipissing.

Raymond was once again the offensive leader with 12 kills and 13.5 points, while Shaelyn Francis added seven points in Saturday’s match.

Nipissing wraps up the first half of the season with a pair of matches against Waterloo next weekend on the road.
