WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL OPEN WEEKEND WITH DOMINANT WIN OVER RMC

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women’s volleyball team swept the RMC Paladins 3-0 on Friday (Jan. 26) night at the Goldring Centre Kimel Family Field House. 
 
Set scores in the match were 25-12, 25-7, 25-8.
 
The Blues dominated offensively, finishing the game with 33 kills compared to the Paladins 11, while holding an advantage in service aces (7), assists (33) and points (44).
 
Outside hitter Olivia Zhu and middle Anna Gadomski led the way for the Blues tonight. Zhu finished the game with a team-high 12 points from 12 kills, while Gadomski had 11 points from six kills, two service aces and one assist. Julia Murmann rounded out the Blues double-digit point getters with 10 points from eight kills and two service aces. 
 
Anna Arellano set up the Blues offence in the Blues win, finishing the game with a game-high 14 assists, while libero Delaney Watson finished with 11 digs. 
 
Elisa Markentin led the way for the Paladins tonight, recording a team-high 5.0 points with four kills and one solo block. 
 
The Blues will play the second half of the back-to-back against the Paladins on Saturday (Jan. 27) afternoon at the Goldring Centre. First serve is set 4 p.m. Tickets for Blues home games can be purchased at varsityblues.ca/tickets, while all the action can be caught online via oua.tv.
