The Varsity Blues women’s volleyball program is pleased to announce that Lani Facey has signed her letter of intent and has committed to competing for the Varsity Blues for the 2023-24 season.
“Lani is a great athlete and bright student who has a passion for volleyball and learning,” said Varsity Blues head coach Kristine Drakich. “She embraces challenges and has an unconditional work ethic, which will help her to grow and succeed at U of T. Lani will add depth to our middle position and we are excited to work with her throughout her Varsity Blues career.”
The 6-foot-1 middle from Waterloo, Ont., comes to the Blues from the Kitchener-Waterloo Predators Volleyball Club.
“I chose U of T because I know I’ll be receiving the best help in assisting me to fulfill my athletic goals, while also allowing me to excel academically,” said Facey. “The amount of inclusivity it promotes assures me that I’ll be surrounded by a safe, loving and diverse community, that I can’t wait to be a part of.”
Facey will be graduating from Bluevale C.I., this spring. There, she was named the most valuable player on the senior volleyball team.
Students who sign a letter of intent and commit to Varsity Blues intercollegiate teams will be eligible to play at the University of Toronto provided they are academically admissible and have applied through the normal process with the Ontario Universities Application Centre.
