Volleyball’s Athletes of the Week

The PACWEST is pleased to announce the volleyball Athletes of the Week as the first half of the season came to a close this past weekend.

Female Volleyball Athlete of the Week
Gracie May – Camosun Chargers

Marking 20 kills and an incredible 15 aces on the weekend, veteran middle Gracie May led the Camosun Chargers to two wins against the Douglas Royals. She accumulated nine of those aces on Saturday, including a match-winner to put away a close fourth set. She also tallied three blocks and seven digs.

Male Volleyball Athlete of the Week
Rylan Van Kooten – VIU Mariners

Third year outside attacker Rylan Van Kooten was outstanding to help lead the Mariners to their sixth and seventh wins in Week 6 at CBC. He had an excellent weekend leading the team in offence and helped stabilized VIU’s passing against CBC’s strong serving.  Rylan combined for 29 total offensive points from the outside with 25 kills as well as adding three blocks, an ace, and 10 digs over the weekend. His high energy and outstanding play this past weekend helped the Mariners to continue their winning ways, finishing the first semester on a six-match winning streak.
