(June 12, 2020) – The 2020 Beach Tour presented by Natura Solutions, including the Vancouver Open, have been cancelled due the COVID-19 pandemic. The Vancouver Open was scheduled to take place July 10-12, 2020.
“The safety of the athletes, coaches, referees, sponsors,
partners and spectators is our main priority”, said Volleyball BC CEO Emma
Gibbons. “We are disappointed but are confident that this is the right decision
to protect our community and to support public health guidelines.”
Planning will start for 2021 with the support and backing of
Presenting Sponsor, Natura Solutions.
“Over the past two years Natura Solutions has sponsored the
Vancouver Open and along with Volleyball BC we have managed to elevate this pro
beach event to become the best in Canada,” said Natura Solutions CEO Robert
Penz.
“We are pleased to announce that Natura Solutions will be
the title sponsor for the Vancouver Open next year in 2021 and very much
look forward to having an event that exceeds what was achieved in 2019.”
Over the next few months, Volleyball BC will continue to assess
the safety and viability of holding modified beach activities as public health
guidelines permit. We recognize that the
beach volleyball community is very involved in all aspects of these events and
is extremely supportive as both players and fans of the game. We thank all
those who planned to attend, as well as our athletes, sponsors and partners,
for their patience.
