Three Ontario duos have secured their spot to the 2022 U19 Beach Volleyball World Championships after competing at the Volleyball Canada Selection Tournament on June 11-12.
The teams of Ruby Sorra/Emma Glagau, Calinda Kok/Kiki Drozd and Andon Kiriakou/Jack Svendsen will represent Canada at the Championships in Dikili, Turkey this coming September. The athletes are also competing and participating in Team Ontario beach volleyball programs over the summer which will help them prepare for the overseas tournament on top of their specific training for the Championships.
The Championships will mark a return for Sorra and Glagau, who competed at the 2021 World Championship in Phuket, Thailand. Last year, Canada sent four teams (all athletes from Ontario) to the event. Sorra and Glagau had the highest placement of the four Canadian teams, finishing fifth. Jaime Santer and Ava Mann closed the tournament out in ninth and the two boys teams of Cameron Chadwick/Martin Licht and Kaden Schmidt/Daniil Herschtynovich both exited at 17th place.
