TAUHID SHINES IN GRAD GAME, LIONS EXACT REVENGE ON WINDSOR WITH DECISIVE WIN

After narrowly losing the epic five-set thriller against the Windsor Lancers Friday night, the York University Lions men’s volleyball team bounced back to complete a statement 3-1 victory, including three straight set victories over the very same Lancers Saturday night at Tait McKenzie Centre.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Having fallen behind after the first set 22-25, the Lions kept their composure and came out on top with a remarkable comeback in the second, third and fourth sets, winning 25-15, 25-19 and 25-8.
  • In what was an emotional night for the team’s veteran Andrew Tauhid, the graduate successfully converted 50 per cent of all his attacks and earned eight points, including set-winning points.

LOOKING AHEAD

While York’s performance has clinched a home playoff game on Saturday, Feb, 25, the Lions still do not know their opponent in that game, or their seed. They can finish as high as third and as low as fourth in the OUA standings. They will either welcome the Queen’s Gaels or Nipissing Lakers to Tait Saturday.
