On Monday, Volleyball Canada announced their training rosters and coaching staff for their U21 and U19 programs heading into the summer.
Featuring on the U21 training list was first-year phenome, Sullie Sundara, with Marauders women’s volleyball Assistant Coach, Nathan Janzen leading the U19 program.
“This is a great, and well-deserved opportunity for Sullie,” said McMaster women’s volleyball Head Coach, Tim Louks. “She will be in an environment that will stretch her game and allowed her to demonstrate her exceptional skill package.”
Sundara ranked top ten in points per set (8th) with 3.7 per set, and total kills per set (9th) with an average of three kills. Her outstanding season earned her OUA West first-team all-star and all-Rookie honours on her way to being named the OUA West Rookie of the Year as well as a U SPORTS all-Rookie team member.
“She’s an exceptional human, and volleyball player, and it will be a very exciting experience.”
A roster of 22 athletes make up the Canadian U21 program that trains from May 25th to June 4th at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton. From that training team group, 12 players will be selected to compete at the 2022 U21 Pan American Cup in Mexico from June 5th to 3th.
Meanwhile, current McMaster women’s volleyball Lead Assistant Coach, Nathan Janzen, takes the helm in a co-lead capacity for the U19 national program.
Heading to Calgary from July 6th to 15th, Janzen will lead Team Canada White and Red as they prepare to compete at the 2022 Canada Cup in Niagara, Ont.
